On 17th June, I attended the Ceramics UK Delivering Net Zero Conference in Stoke-on-Trent, an event that brought together industry leaders, innovators, and sustainability experts all focused on shaping a lower-carbon future for the UK ceramics sector.
The conference was a valuable opportunity to explore the practical steps our industry is taking towards decarbonisation. From pioneering alternative fuels and electrification strategies to embracing circular economy principles, the agenda was packed with actionable insights and forward-thinking solutions. What stood out most was the spirit of collaboration—manufacturers, suppliers, and policymakers coming together to tackle the technical and commercial challenges involved in reaching net zero.
Highlights included detailed discussions on evolving policy frameworks, the latest low-carbon kiln technologies, and real-world case studies from ceramics producers already making progress. The Q&A sessions were open and engaging, reflecting the industry’s genuine appetite for knowledge-sharing and meaningful change.
It’s clear that achieving net zero is not just a long-term goal—it’s an essential priority for our sector’s resilience and growth. The conversations and connections at Ceramics UK will help inform our own approach as we work to drive sustainability across our business and the wider ceramics community.
Thank you to the organisers for hosting such a timely and valuable event. I’m looking forward to applying what I’ve learned as we continue our journey toward a more sustainable future.
