Monolithic Refractories
At Robert Lickley Refractories Ltd, we develop and manufacture high-performance monolithic refractories designed to meet the demands of today’s high-temperature industries. Our product range includes low cement, ultra-low cement, self-flowing, insulating, and chemically bonded formulations—each engineered for strength, thermal efficiency, and long service life.
Unlike traditional bricks, monolithic refractories are installed in place by casting, gunning, ramming or vibrating—offering faster turnaround, fewer joints, and improved resistance to thermal and mechanical stress. These flexible installation methods make them ideal for steelmaking, incineration, cement, and non-ferrous applications.
With decades of industry experience, we combine hands-on technical knowledge with quality controlled production to deliver tailored solutions for both planned projects and emergency repairs. Whether you're lining a new furnace or extending the life of existing assets, our monolithic products deliver performance, durability, and reliability where it matters most.
Manufactured under the AREL® brand our range of in-house manufactured products covers the entire spectrum of applications and temperature ranges.

Conventional
Conventional monolithic refractories are cement-based materials offering reliable performance in standard applications, providing strength, thermal resistance, and ease of installation across a wide temperature range.

Low Cement
Low cement monolithic refractories contain reduced calcium aluminate content, offering higher density, improved strength, and better thermal shock resistance for demanding, high-performance industrial applications.

Ultra Low Cement
Ultra low cement monolithic refractories have minimal cement content, resulting in superior density, high strength, excellent corrosion resistance, and enhanced performance in extreme thermal environments.

Cement Free
Cement Free monolithic refractories use chemical or colloidal bonding systems instead of calcium aluminate, providing excellent thermal shock resistance, faster dry-out, and superior performance in aggressive conditions.

Ramming Materials
are hand-placed refractory materials designed for easy compaction, creating dense, joint-free linings in areas where formwork is impractical.

Backfill Materials
are free-flowing, dry refractory materials used to fill spaces behind linings, ensuring thermal insulation and supporting movement in high-temperature areas.

Gunning Materials
are pneumatically applied materials ideal for fast installation in difficult or overhead areas, offering strong adhesion, minimal rebound, and reliable thermal resistance.

Insulation Castables
are lightweight, low-density materials designed to reduce heat loss, improve energy efficiency, and provide thermal insulation in linings operating at high temperatures.

Self Flow Materials
are castable materials that flow under their own weight without vibration, ensuring uniform placement and excellent surface finish in complex or congested installation areas.
