Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction

Current Status

88% of all our emissions is covered by what is known as Scope 3. These figures come from best estimates on our indirect value chain activities - i.e purchased goods and transportation.

Its a huge undertaking but we are committed to reducing our emissions to the lowest possible levels - and as a first step we are controlling what we can.

Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions cover our direct and indirect (through energy) activities.

Scope 1 emissions cover emissions from owned or controlled resources - such as cars, boilers, drying ovens etc.

In reporting year 2024 this amounted to 329.60 tCo2e

Scope 2 emissions cover indirect emissions from energy purchased in the form of electricity.

In reporting year 2024 this amounted to to 54 tCo2e which was entirely made up of transmission emissions.

2025 Updates

In March 2025 we switched to carbon offset kerosene to power our drying ovens. This being the only option as biofuel is both prohibitively expensive (x3/x4 cost) and also detrimental to our equipment.

50% of our vehicles are now full electric and the remaining 50% are hybrids.

We have pledged to achieve Net Zero Scope 1 and 2 for 2025. Initially this will be done through offsetting.

Scope 1 Emissions

Direct emissions from company-owned sources

  • Company fossil fuel vehicles
  • Kerosene powered ovens
  • Natural Gas powered ovens
Scope 2 Emissions

Indirect  emissions from purchased electricity.

  • Transmission tCo2e costs
  • Zero from electricity as carbon neutral supply
Scope 3 Emissions

All other indirect emissions (supply chain, product use, logistics).

  • Logistics
  • Raw material extraction
  • Downstream customer use
